Northshore High School's FIRST Robotics Team 1912 Combustion, located in Slidell, Louisiana, was established in the fall of 2005 by a small group of seniors. Since then, we have expanded into a diverse family of mentoring professionals and enthusiastic students from all grades. As we implemented the values and goals of FIRST throughout the seasons, every student was able to leave the team enriched with vital science, engineering, and real-life skills. The overwhelming task of building a functioning, effective robot within six weeks challenges students to communicate, cooperate, and learn as a team. Throughout this intense timeframe team members absorb everything from project management to programming and power-drilling, and become dedicated to promoting science and technology. Our love for teamwork and engineering extends into the off-season with demos, volunteering, workshops, and camps throughout the region. With so many places to go and events to run, students here at Northshore discover that building the robot is only the beginning of their FIRST experience.

Vaccinations of US children declined after publication of now-refuted autism risk

[ ASHEcon is dedicated to promoting excellence in health economics research in the United States by providing a forum for emerging ideas and empirical results ]     Health economics researchers have found that publication of the perceived risk linking the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine to autism in the late 1990s seemingly led to declines in the vaccination rate of children.   Lenisa Chang, assistant professor of economics in UC's Carl H. Lindner College of Business - For her study, "The MMR-Autism Controversy: Did Autism Concerns Affect Vaccine Take Up?" to be presented during the 4th Biennial Conference of the American Society of Health Economics June 10-13 in Minnesota, Chang examined data from the National Immunization Survey from 1995 through 2006 to gauge parents' response toward the vaccine-autism controversy.

SIGN THE PETITION: Stormy Rich Gets Banned From Bus Because She Wanted To Stop Bullying - The Petition Site

Stormy Rich, 18, photographed by her school in Umatilla, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 after being reprimanded for standing up to bullies on behalf of a mentally challenged student on a bus from Umatilla High School. Though she had permission to ride the bus originally her privaledge has been revoked as a result.
Stormy Rich complained about how older students were treating a mentally challenged on the bus.
Rich told Fox 35 about the mean middle school bullies: "They would be mean to her, tell her she couldn't sit on certain spots on the bus. They were giving her food that they put in her mouth. I actually had to tell her to spit it out because she didn't understand."

Stormy Rich Gets Banned From Bus Because She Wanted To Stop Bullying
Their response: Ban Stormy from riding the bus.

Stormy Rich will graduate next week with a 3.67 GPA and has been awarded scholarships. She strives to continue to help others and plans to start nursing studies at Daytona State College.

Still, is this mentally challenged girl still being bullied? Will it get worse since the students who ride the bus know they will not be punished? Shouldn't the school do something about bullying?
