Inclusive Education & The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act  - Presenter Michael McSheehan  is a project director with the Institute on Disability/UCED and Clinical Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders; coordinator with the National Inclusive Education Initiative for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders; and is a developer, researcher, and co-author of The Beyond Access Model, .

We commented on the  AutismNOW Facebook page:
"Good info. by Professor Michael McSheehan. Listen, watch the archived video. Autism NOW Center provides wonderful webinars every month."

Here's our 1st Q:

 - Brenda Lee Cosse': Common Core Standards does have components for Students with Disabilities.  What can be done to make CCS more relevant or raise awareness of this fact?  Also, do you find that Educators are more reluctant to implement CCS for Students with Disabilities when Performance Incentives are in question?
The League of Women Voters is conducting a National Discussion on the 'Role of the Federal Government in Public Education'.  Common Core Standards (including applied to Students with various Disabilities) is addressed.

 - Brenda Lee Cosse':  Is interactive technology becoming the primary method to 'educate' Students on the Autism Spectrum?  Considering Communication, Social Interaction and sometimes Behavioral issues, it seems that iPad, smartphones, e-tablets and the like are providing success in the classroom, especially in General Education, Least Restrictive and Inclusive settings.

- Professor McSheehan: (summary) Boston is using I-Techn(o)logies use.
HIGH INTEREST, HIGH MOTIVATION.  CAUTION, HOLD SAME STANDARDS FOR EDUCATIONAL USE AND PRACTICES.  DON'T LOOSE SIGHT BEHIND HAVING EVIDENCE OF WHAT IS SOLD OR GIVEN.  I TECH IS NOT A SEPARATE CURRICULUM.

EXAMPLE:  SCHOOL ALL STUDENTS GET, ACCESSIBILITY IS GREAT, DOWNLOAD, SORTING, VOCABULARY, LINKING, BUILD FROM COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS.  INTEGRATE.  WHITE PAPERS RAISE FLAGS REGARDING AUGMENTED COMMUNICATIONS AND I-TECH.  TRY THINGS OUT CAUTIOUSLY, ENGAGE STUDENT WITH TYPICAL PEERS, GEAR UP FOR COLLEGE AND FUTURE CAREERS AND LIVES.
