"How do you know WHEN 'It's Back-to-School Time'?"

Like most kids, our 7 year old can't wait for SUMMERTIME!  He enjoys weekday recreation time, endless playing in the backyard and daily fun at community playgrounds, meeting new friends in his extended school year program, camps, staying up late, etc....
As Parents, we know it's back to school time WHEN:
  • big box stores put out the school supplies displays (1 month in advance)
  • clothing retail stores advertise school attire with summer clothes in their commercials (1 month in advance)
  • our son is 'tired' of summer camp (last 2-3 days)
  • our son is asking for new SCHOOL apps on the iPad, iPod Touch! (2 weeks in advance)
  • you've seen all of the summer movies at the local theater
  • you're bored with the selections in Redbox, Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, Media Hub, etc...
  • our son resets his summer 'wake-up' and 'go-to-bed' schedule to the SCHOOL TIME!
If you think about it, there are many signs of the school time.  Students, Parents, Teachers and the Community share in the 'Back-to-School' annual mode.

fan the flames & carry the virtual torch!

Watch the Torch Relay live    So we didn't get to check off  'Attend the Olympics' family bucket list!
More like a realistic staycation instead of our olympic-size vacation...

Well, we still have many ways to enjoy the celebrations.
So, let's charge that e-tablet, log in to our social network accounts, skype with friends, hangout on Google+ , take awesome HD pics from our smart-phones and post to Flickr.

Is there anyway to watch the games in 3D or Real-D?  Our son would enjoy that!

Serving 5 symbolic Olympic foods every viewing! {Hint:  Foods from 5 countries; or favorite dishes by your favorite Olympians; serve food in circular-shaped or olympic-themed dinnerware}

donning our penta(5) olympic-ring gear, too

Hi5! we're right in the virtual fans stand having fun!

pin it, hangout, post, cloud, iBook, tweet, share and carry the virtual torch!

Make Family Vacation Educational This Summer - US News and World Report

Factory tours and cultural neighborhoods can add a learning element to family vacations this summer.   Giving your high schooler a stake in planning your summer trip can make the vacation more meaningful." Taking a detour from mainstream tourist attractions can also lead to valuable learning experiences.  There is less likelihood that you will have a sulking teenager on your trip, who feels like they are being forced to do activities that they have no interest in," Kahn says. "They got to have a hand in planning, after all."
While giving up some control of your vacation may be challenging, you will teach your teen valuable money management and research skills, says Jessica Givens, a college admissions expert and founder of All-in-One Academics.
Parents can use the family vacation as a way to create their own version of the Science Channel's How It's Made via factory tours near their vacation destination, suggests a blog post on GreatSchools.

[image: Profile Picture]Does your kid enjoy science and experimenting? Our 6 year old son certainly does! So much so, he participated in his 1st inclusive Science camp. Now, he's even more interested in bubbling, mildly exploding, mixing chemical and electronic reactions. We notice that he talks, shows his personality, uses critical thinking, willingly engages and expands his social circle while he's enjoying science activities. We can't wait until next year. *in the meantime...* We subscribed him to Dr. Mad Science! Jordan is a preteen who is an avid golf-enthusiast who ... more »

We can advocate until laws are changed. We are experts at raising awareness. We can be a marketers dream target group or a P.R. nightmare!
