Important Update: The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has rescheduled the meeting on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for Thursday, July 26, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. ET. Thank you to everyone who has responded to this call to action. If you haven’t already, there’s still time to contact your senators and urge them to support this important agreement.

About the Convention on the Rights of Persons with DisabilitiesThe Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted on December 13, 2006, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, where it received widespread and immediate support from 82 signatories. It is the first comprehensive human rights treaty of the 21st century, and follow decades of work by the United Nations to change attitudes and approaches to persons with disabilities around the world. The Convention reaffirms that all persons with all types of disabilities must enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
